Discover the Golden Route of Sunnmøre on a full-day tour from Ålesund. Admire the Troll Wall, travel the famous Trollstigen road, and enjoy panoramic views from the Romsdalen Gondola.
Begin your tour at the cruise terminal in Ålesund, where you will meet your German-speaking guide. Throughout the day, your guide will share fascinating stories and local insights as you travel through some of Norway’s most spectacular landscapes.
The first stop is the famous Romsdalen Gondola in Åndalsnes. In just a few minutes, the gondola takes you from the fjord to breathtaking mountain views high above the valley. At the top, enjoy around 45 minutes to take in magnificent panoramas of the Romsdal Alps, the fjords, and the surrounding peaks and valleys.
After descending back to the fjord, continue by bus to Trollstigen, one of Norway’s most famous mountain roads. Surrounded by steep peaks, deep valleys, and stunning scenery, this engineering masterpiece was opened in 1936 after eight years of challenging construction work. At the top, you will have about 30 minutes to visit two spectacular viewpoints and admire the winding road below.
Then, continue west across the mountains toward the strawberry village of Valldal. Before reaching the village, stop at Gudbrandsjuvet, a dramatic gorge where the foaming Valldøla River rushes through narrow rock formations. Here, enjoy a relaxing coffee break with coffee and a cinnamon bun at a café beautifully located on the edge of the gorge.
Travel through a deep and striking valley leading down to the Storfjord. Along the way, pass picturesque farmland and see the area that is famous throughout Norway for its strawberry production. Once you reach the fjord, the return journey to Ålesund follows the shoreline through small villages and beautiful fjord landscapes. If time allows, there will be additional photo stops along the way so you can fully enjoy the scenery.
